Anxiety Therapy
It is natural to experience anxiousness from time to time. However, for some people, anxiety becomes uncontrollable and disproportionate to the event that they fear and worry about. This type of anxiety is usually accompanied by ruminating thoughts and sometimes has associated physical symptoms such as insomnia, nervousness, restlessness, trembling or muscle twitching, weakness, hyperventilation and increased sweating along with potentially feeling panic, dread, and in danger.
Therapy will uncover the underlying origins of your worry and fears, provide new relaxation skills, improve your ability to healthily perceive situations, and acquire effective problem-solving skills and strategic coping mechanisms.
Trauma Therapy
What is emotional ‘trauma’? The American Psychological Association (APA) defines trauma as “any disturbing experience that results in significant fear, helplessness, dissociation, confusion, or other disruptive feelings intense enough to have a long-lasting negative effect on a person’s attitudes, behavior, and other aspects of functioning.” Traumatic events are caused by the actions of another person(s) or those resulting from nature and the experience causes one to feel that their surroundings and possibly other people are not safe nor predictable. ViaSano Counseling specializes in treating trauma and adheres to the APA’s definition when assessing trauma, establishing and updating the treatment plan, and when utilizing trauma-informed therapies.
